Florida Chapter of Alpha Zeta Spring 2009 Pledge Class Initiation and End of The Year Banquet
What an amazing evening! The outdoor weather was beautiful, the setting was perfect, and the evening's program went off without a hitch. On the evening of April 15, 2009 the Florida Chapter welcomed 22 new member-initiates. The new member initiate class, their sponsors and Florida chapter members were present for the end of the year banquet held at the Haile Plantation Golf and Country club. This occasion was a special break from the old location at the University Hotel and the President's dining room.
Dr. Barfield was our keynote speaker, and he is always a delight. We had an opportunity to recognize and acknowledge the officers and members for their hard work throughout the year.
New member-initiate/Pledge Class Chronicler treated us to one of the most amazing slide shows we had seen. Though it was dark, the vibe felt was that people were teary eyed. Great job Miss Claire Page!
At the end of the evening, I was also able to bring out my "surprise." I asked Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (Music fraternity) to serenade our pledge master Kelsey Hughes-Calhoun, in appreciation for her hard work this year. I have asked Phi Mu Alpha to serenade our ladies for the last three years, but this usually happens at the last meeting of the year. This year, I decided to invite them to our initiation banquet. Our alumni, professors and sponsors have not had the opportunity to watch their performance. Phi Mu Alpha was more than willing to step up and perform. There unfortunately, was no video of the serenade. The lighting had dimmed down considerably for video cameras, but the memory still lasts. I hope everyone enjoyed the evening.
I would like to acknowledge once again our Pledge Master Kelsey Hughes-Calhoun for her hard work through two pledge classes. It was a pleasure working with you through this last year and you are forever part of Alpha Zeta history.
To all the new members of the Fraternity of Alpha Zeta,
Welcome to our Alpha Zeta Family!

Tippin Pets
I came by the "Tippin's" to speak with Chris and Lin about belly photos. While there, I ended up taking some photos of their cute pets Sampson, Petie (the Italian Greyhound) and Lola (the cat). Sampson, the Great Dane is 150 lbs and he's only 14 months old. Amazing dog. He was such a poser. Lin even mentioned that.
"Hey why does Sampson seem to really like getting his picture taken? He's so well behaved."
Pretty dog. He was very calm.
